Letting Go of the Past: The Power of Forgiveness

Life is often shaped by events from our past. Hurful words, unexpected disappointments, or injustices — these memories that linger in the corners of our minds unconsciously affect our present. Yet, forgiveness isn’t about absolving the other person; it’s about freeing ourselves from the weight of the past.
Forgiveness is a process. The first step is to accept what happened exactly as it was. As long as we resist, those experiences continue to replay in our minds. Acceptance is the front door to forgiveness. What follows is awareness: What did this event teach me? Which emotions did I suppress, or what did I choose to ignore?
To let go of the past, we must turn inward and ask ourselves the real question: "Do I really have to carry this burden anymore?" Most of the time, the answer is no. And at that moment, freedom begins.
